Ernie Mansfield Update - February 2002

As you may know, I have a new promoter: Ivor of Judivor Productions.

Ivor has a website called "The Jazz Room" where he has prepared - for purchase, or for listening - a CD compilation entitled "The Jazz Room - Jazz Mix Volume 2", on which my composition, "Stand Upon A Star", appears.

In addition, I have lowered my own CD prices at my mp3 site (see address below). My CDs are now only $7.98 each. MP3.com usually ships 2-3-day priority!

I will be performing on EWI (Electric Wind Instrument) with the California Symphony this Sunday, Feb. 3rd, at 7:30pm, and on Tuesday, Feb. 5th, at 8pm at the REGIONAL CENTER FOR THE ARTS, 1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek CA 94596.

Conductor Barry Jekowsky has asked me to perform on "Songs of Sanctuary" by Karl Jenkins. Besides orchestra, this piece calls for children's choir and African percussion ensemble. I'm looking forward to it!

I will again be performing with The Great Night of Rumi - poems of Rumi with music and song - in Sebastopol at the Masonic Hall, on March 2nd, Saturday. I don't have all the details yet, but I believe it starts at 8pm. I accompany many of the readers at this event - usually I play flutes (including bass flute and ethnic wood flutes, melodian, etc.).

It's a very moving event, and the Masonic Hall makes it even more "trippy", if I can still use that word!

Usually you can find me on flute and Ellen Hoffman on piano at St Jerome Church at 11 am on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. We always manage to jazz up some of their arrangements. St. Jerome is a Catholic Church in El Cerrito, on Curry St. and Carmel Av. However, I will not be there on this Sunday (Feb 3, 2002), since I will be rehearsing with the California Symphony.

My piece, "Stand Upon A Star", is being promoted on a CD compilation called "Jazz Mix - Vol.2" by Judivor Productions. "Stand Upon A Star" is now sitting at #2 on the Bossa Nova Charts on MP3.com. It would sure be nice to see it at the #1 position!!! If you'd like to help, please go to:
