The PromoWest Pavilion
Columbus, OH
Saturday, June 14, 2003

The rained had stopped for the evening and the temperature was just right for a night in the outdoor, intimate venue of PromoWest Pavilion in Columbus (for me, around the 6th or 7th time to hear/see Dan over the past 20 years).  The pavilion’s capacity is around 5,500 but only around half of that showed up for the night’s show.  And for the 2,500 of us or so, it was a nice night.  Dan wore a light blue palm tree shirt and blue jeans and appeared to actually be slightly bored or tired.  He was the least conversational with the audience than I ever remember but his voice was very clear and strong—much more so than when I saw him 2 years ago in Vevay, Indiana

Similar to some of the recent stops on his 2003 Full Circle tour, Dan did not play Nexus, Old Tennessee, Reason to Run, Beggar’s Game or Don’t Lose Heart and only played for around an hour and 45 minutes—but what he did play sounded great.

At this venue, cameras were permitted and, unfortunately, many of the folks used flashes.

To those with tickets for the stops on the rest of the tour—enjoy—Dan is still a great and extremely versatile musician and he played all of the prominent riffs on his black and white fender guitar himself—dead on to the album/CD.  And when he and the band jammed on Raven and Power of Gold, they really jammed.  It was great.
