I could write a song

I could write a tune, just about anything that I wants to write about
I could write about yer ma, I could write about yer pa, and about how they scream and shout
I could write a diddy 'bout kitty in the middle of a swing like ya didn't care
But it's done been done by some other Smith so I won't be a-goin' there

I could write a song about bangagong, but someone did that too
I could write song about a very long and winding road to you
I could plagerize about the bluest eyes in Texas or anywhere
Or I could get up off my black and blue duff and write about my broken chair

I can write just about anything that happens in this world
About the tender love you see between a little boy and a little girl
I could write about these feelings of love, everlasting and true
But the words would not do justice for the love I feel for you
No, mere words cannot express the love I feel for you

I could write a song about big bad John or bad, bad Leroy Brown
I could skit and skoot about walkin' boots or the bright lights downtown
I could write a tune 'bout wishin' on the moon or the stars falling from the sky
Or I could write about my wonderful kids, the best I testify

I could write a song about the 5'Oclock world or the rhythm of the rain
I could rock the pages with viva Las Vegas or a gambler and his pain
I could sing and shout and dance about with a song called the twist
Or I could learn how to stroke the ivory keys and write as a pianist

I can write just about anything that happens in this world
Or I could make it up, make it sound true, just to send you for a whirl
I could sing to you about my feelings of love, and girl it'd all be true
But the words would not do justice for the love I feel for you
No, mere words cannot express the love I feel for you
