Independence Day, for me, began the day I surrendered to win
I started my journey of freedom with God as my next of kin

The Big Book is my scripture, written for me as a guide
To help make sense and break free from the Hell I created inside

I can’t, God can, I’ll let him, keeps it simple for One, Two and Three
Next comes the course of action, clear the wreckage I’ve made of me

In time my spirit enlightens, I know what it is I must do
Carry forth this message of freedom to others like me and you

America celebrates independence, I celebrate freedom each day
