Xanadu Theatre ~ Taj Mahal ~ Atlantic City
June 8, 2002

On Saturday, June 8, 2002 my wife and I attended the Dan Fogelberg 30th Anniversary Tour concert at the Xanadu Theatre at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.  We had a fabulous time although I believe Dan Fogelberg deserves a better venue.  The theatre is small and cramped with movable chairs rather than theatre seats.  A bar was set up on the side and every now and then you could hear a beer bottle being tossed into a trash can by the bar attendants.

Dan Fogelberg sounded great for a guy who has been performing now for 30+ years (a shock to me personally when I thought about it!).  I started my Dan Fogelberg collection in 1974 with "Souvenirs" and my latest acquisition was "Portrait" - a great compilation of Dan's songs.

The band with Dan Fogelberg were very talented - and famous in their own right as well - especially Joe Vitale whose music I've enjoyed from playing with Joe Walsh on the album "The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get".

The only disappointment of the evening came with the third and final set.  I would much rather hear Dan Fogelberg compositions than Joe Walsh, Muddy Waters or George Harrison.  I bought my tickets because I enjoy Dan Fogelberg's talented playing and composing - not just his musical ability to play other artist's music.

However, all in all, it was a great evening!  I would gladly pay to see Dan Fogelberg in concert again.  By the way, when will he be in the Philadelphia area again??
