Where Did My Rainbow Go

I've answered the phone a hundred times
Even though it never rings
I've searched my soul as I try to climb
And it doesn't want to sing

Yet I pen these words to help me through
With teardrops from my eyes
For the pictures that we never drew
Did we ever really try, I wonder why

I hear your voice ring through the walls
With a silent knock at the door
So I hurry through the empty halls
And open to an empty floor

So I head on back with pen in hand
To paint a silent song
Where once was felt the promised land
But I guess that I was wrong, I just don't belong

All my life I've wondered why
Love comes just to turn and go
The more the answer to find I try
The less I seem to know

Where did my rainbow go
Where did my rainbow go
Where did my rainbow go
