YOU DON'T KNOW

As we pirouette around each others hearts

With darting glances in each others eyes

I hope that what I see is not illusion

For yearning hearts often tells you lies

The letters that are written live a little child

Contradictions mixed with faith and fear

A soul that's strong enough to live without you

A heart that longs to be so very near

Oh you don't know the gift that you have given me

The sparkle that is in my child's eyes

And as I pray for you and your beloved ones

I dream about you each and every night

I battle with the selfishness inside myself

Trying hard to pray for what you need

While asking God if I could be just what you want

Waiting for the answer patiently

And so I visit quietly and casually

While deep inside my heart beats like a drum

If it got any louder you would here it too

And I'd be so embarrassed that I'd run
